Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter, Gringotts Expansion

ENVIRONMENTAL UI & GLOBAL ACCESSIBILITY STANDARDS

To support the expansion of “The Making of Harry Potter” at Warner Bros. Studios in London, I executed the production design for over 300 unique environmental assets. The project required seamlessly integrating a massive new footprint—the Gringotts Wizarding Bank—into a high-traffic, established physical experience. My focus was on translating complex cinematic details into production-ready graphics while adhering to strict international localization and accessibility standards.

The Challenge:
Data-Driven Expansion &
Seamless Integration

Client data clearly showed that consistent, high-quality updates were the primary driver of repeat visits. The challenge was twofold: we needed to increase the overall capacity of the tour, and we had to introduce expansive new areas without breaking the established visual language of the existing sets. The new expansion had to feel like a completely organic extension of the original tour.

Production & Localization Strategy

Having previously designed for the Forbidden Forest expansion, I was brought onto this project to drive the high-volume production of supergraphics, didactic panels, and artifact labels.

  • Global Localization: Because the installation was in England, I managed the localized translation of all visual assets. This required a strict attention to detail to adapt spelling, grammar, and typographic conventions (such as comma usage and single vs. double quotes) to British English standards, ensuring authenticity for the regional audience.
  • Accessibility Compliance: Creating an inclusive experience was a top priority. I applied strict ADA accessibility guidelines across all graphic materials. By carefully managing typography, contrast ratios, and spatial placement, I ensured that the information remained highly legible and accessible for guests of all abilities.

Impact

Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, I successfully delivered a production-ready suite of over 300 graphics. The expansion not only increased the tour’s physical capacity but delivered the precise “wow factor” the client’s data demanded to drive continued fan retention, keeping the global franchise experience fresh, immersive, and accessible to everyone.
